B+M STEEL CHOOSES IMET HORIZONTAL BANDSAWS - Monday 2nd February 2015

10-03-2015

Leading UK steel stockholders and fabricators, Barclay & Mathieson (B+M Steel), have invested in two of our IMET KS 620 two-way-mitre horizontal bandsaws. One bandsaw has been installed at Barclay & Mathieson’s Aberdeen depot. The other is located at the steel stockholder’s facility in Chorley, Lancashire. Both saws will be used for cutting structural beams and columns, as well as steel hollow sections of up to 15 metres in length. Fully understanding customer needs “Having decided it was time to upgrade the metal cutting facilities at both our Aberdeen and Chorley depots,” comments Barclay & Mathieson General Manager, Stephen McLean, “we looked for a supplier who could not only provide machines to the exact specifications we required, but also demonstrate a thorough understanding of our needs. The team from Addison Saws were able to do both of these things. Moreover, as their attention to detail was second-to-none, we genuinely felt comfortable dealing with them.” Two-year warranty “In addition to providing the precise cutting solutions we required, which included a number of special features, such as fully automated in-feed and out-feed rollers,” adds Stephen McLean, “Addison Saws also included a two-year warranty – something we have not previously been offered when purchasing metal cutting machinery and a clear sign of their confidence in the technologies they provide.” Fully automated rollers For enhanced precision and performance, both bandsaws were specified with fully automated rollers. This optional feature enables each machine to provide fully automated in-feed of components of up to 15 metres in length, and automated out-feed of cut components of up to 12 metres in length. As a result of the automated rollers, the need for manual handling during the cutting cycle is removed and greater accuracy is achieved. Automatic component measuring Bundle clamps were also selected by Barclay & Mathieson to further increase productivity. Additionally, to help fulfil the considerable demands of the Aberdeen market, the machine supplied to Barclay & Mathieson’s Aberdeen depot was equipped with an automatic component measuring system for even greater precision. Significant benefits “We are delighted with both machines,” concludes Stephen McLean. “The level of accuracy we are able to offer our customers is exceptional, while the automated roller systems have increased our productivity significantly. Added to that, the combined cutting/mitring capability provided by each bandsaw has enabled us to extend our product offering at our Chorley and Aberdeen depots to include full structural packages.” Find out more about the IMET KS 620 bandsaw http://www.addisonsaws.co.uk/p-5-47-ks-620
