Blakes provide platform to build The Queensferry Crossing

As part of our ongoing role in the new Queensferry Crossing, Blake Group manufactured six massive working platforms, for the Forth Crossing Building Constructors. The platforms, which each extended to around 6 meters in height and weighed approximately 17 tons, were fitted to the massive caisson enclosures used to form the foundations for each of the Bridge’s three towers. The platforms provided a secure structure on which jet grouting rigs sat during the final installation process of the foundation caissons. Blakes delivered the platforms from our Bonnington factory to Leith docks where they were transported by barge directly to site, in the middle of the Firth of Forth!
