First Gin Produced in Edinburgh for 150 Years

22-10-2014

The first run of Pickering’s Gin was bottled at their Summerhall Distillery in Edinburgh. Pickering’s, the brainchild of Marcus Pickering and Matthew Gammell, is the first gin to be produced in Edinburgh in over 150 years and is distilled to a original Bombay recipe. Matthew, a trained engineer, designed and assembled the distillery in the Old Animal Hospital dog kennels with the assistance of The Metal Centre who produced the Bain Marie for the still and all the supplementary equipment to support the unique Pickering’s Gin distillery. Matthew, who has a long working relationship with The Metal Centre through his property renovation and maintenance business Broughton One commented: “Having worked with Blake’s and The Metal Centre on a number of projects over the last 10 years, it was the natural choice to involve them with the distillery project. We have been delighted with their advice, input and assistance in the creation of the still and distillery, through to establishing operations at the Summerhall Distillery”.
