Kitting out ‘The Kitchin’

20-04-2015

The Kitchin, run by internationally renowned chef and TV star Tom and wife Michaela, achieved it’s Michelin star just six months after opening in 2006 and has been one of Edinburgh’s hottest eateries ever since. The expansion responds to the restaurant’s recent award as the UK’s Best Restaurant by the Observer. Kitchin said: “We’re taking the biggest step it’s possible for us to take. Just saying that makes me go weak at the knees.” The project to extend the restaurant involved large sections of exposed steelwork and was carried out to very strict timescales as the main restaurant was only closed for 30 days over Christmas/new year 2014/2015. The existing Kitchin Restaurant was doubled in size by their acquiring the adjacent property, the steelwork was for the support of very large openings in the existing stone walls to enable the two properties to be enlarged.
