Founded in 1979, Capital Aluminium Extrusions Ltd, Capalex is an independent aluminium extrusion company with all manufacturing, machining and fabrication, powder coating, heat treatment, assembly, storage and stock holding, despatch and administrative functions under one roof at a single site factory in Cleator Moor, Cumbria.

Capalex was started by two former employees previously employed by another large aluminium extruder in the local area. The former employees bought the smaller of the two extrusion presses from the receiver and commenced business, specialising in making small, tight tolerance extrusions to order. Uniquely amongst extruders they offered a ‘no minimum quantity’ service with excellent lead times and the company has prospered since.
