Custom Acoustic Enclosure Reduces Noise by 20dB for a Vibration System Fan

02-04-2025

At Centrateq, we recently designed and installed a bespoke acoustic enclosure for a cooling fan on a competitor’s vibration test system, located at a customer’s premises. The goal was to reduce noise levels by almost 20dB, creating a more comfortable working environment for both staff and visitors.

The installation site posed a number of challenges, with uneven surfaces and multiple levels rendering a standard enclosure unsuitable. The fan itself was positioned adjacent to an external wall and functioned by drawing air through the vibration test system before expelling it outdoors. As a result, the enclosure needed to suppress noise effectively without impeding airflow.

Our team engineered a tailor-made acoustic solution that enclosed the fan while maintaining both accessibility and performance. The design also accounted for the irregular features of the site. Through careful planning and precise execution, we achieved maximum noise reduction without compromising the fan’s operational efficiency.

Following installation, the enclosure met its target performance, significantly reducing noise levels without affecting airflow. This project is a testament to our ability to deliver high-quality, custom-engineered solutions that adapt to existing equipment and challenging site conditions.
