Three Life Size Model Hearts

Three model hearts were required to go inside three full-size model men to show the positioning of artificial heart valves and demonstrate the keyhole surgery instruments used to deliver them into the heart.
We used a stock CAD file of the heart and sectioned the CAD file to show three different valve replacements positions. We grew the parts on the SLA viper as high definition prints to give the best surface finish.

We experimented with polishing the exterior of the heart and lacquering the inside of chambers that were impossible to polish but the best effect was achieved by sand blasting the outside surfaces so that the hearts could be made to glow red by shining a red spotlight on them.
