HM Lord-Lieutenant Lady Dannatt and General the Lord Dannatt officially open Delta Fire’s new highly sustainable and eco-friendly premises
Delta Fire, the UK’s leading provider of bespoke life-saving firefighting nozzles, has proudly opened its £5.5 million state-of-the-art design and manufacturing facility in Norwich. The new building, located at Broadland Business Park, represents a significant investment in the company's 35-year history and underscores its commitment to sustainability, with the facility designed to help the business achieve net-zero emissions by 2025.
The grand opening was officiated by Lady Philippa Dannatt, Lord Lieutenant of Norfolk, alongside her husband General the Lord Dannatt, former Chief of the General Staff. The ceremony featured a backdrop of Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service’s newest appliance and a vintage fire engine from the 1930s, courtesy of the Norfolk Fire Museum.
More than 100 guests attended the event, where they heard how Delta Fire products extinguish the majority of attended fires everyday across the UK. Guests were treated to a live demonstration of Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service’s new appliance, simulating a car fire alongside a 1930s fire engine from the Norfolk Fire Museum. Delta Fire also used the occasion to launch its latest product, the Hydro Wall Hose, which is specially designed to combat wildfires.
Lady Dannatt, expressed her admiration for the company, noting “This is the kind of story I love most of all, a little Norfolk business set up nearly 35 years ago - but from little seeds big things grow. What has happened here has been inspirational and sends out a profound message to young people about what they can do.”
Ceri Sumner, Norfolk Fire and Rescue Service’s Chief Fire Officer added: “We were pleased to be able to support Delta Fire in the opening of their new building and showcase some of the ways we use their products when dealing with emergencies.
“It is always great to see Norfolk businesses going from strength to strength.”
Delta Fire's CEO, Ian Gardner, who started the company nearly 35 years ago, expressed his pride in the business's growth. “In this building, we manufacture the firefighting nozzles that extinguish the majority of fires in the UK every day, and we export them around the world. It’s a tremendous achievement by our team, many of whom have been with us for nearly 30 years.”
As Delta Fire approaches its 35th anniversary, the company remains a family-run business, with three generations of the Gardner family at the helm, continuing to innovate and lead the way in the firefighting equipment industry.
