GGB Metal Alloy Bearings Featured in Konstruktionpraxis January 21, 2016Back A case history on the use of GGB Bearing Technology’s new metal alloy bearings in steel rolling mill cooling beds is featured in the January 2016 issue of Konstruktionpraxis, a leading German industrial engineering journal: http://www.konstruktionspraxis.vogel.de/warmwalzen-von-stahl-die-wahl-des-richtigen-gleitlagers-ermoeglicht-den-wartungsfreien-betrieb-der-kuehlbetten-a-518328/ The article details how GGB provided a bearing solution for a new cooling bed being installed by a major Scandinavian steel producer. After extensive technical discussions with the company’s design engineers, GGB recommended its GGB-CSM® ferrous-nickel-copper alloy bearings to withstand the extreme temperatures of the application. GGB-CSM plain bearings in steel applications The bearings were formulated using advanced materials and production techniques to provide maintenance-free performance and superior mechanical characteristics. GGB also developed a special high-temperature grease for use in the application. GGB’s involvement in the project extended to on-site technical support of the assembly process and training the company’s installers. The bearings have performed well since the cooling bed became operational, and GGB engineers continue to meet regularly with the company.
