GGB to Present at Purdue University Compressor Engineering Conference

28-09-2016

GGB to Present at Purdue University Compressor Engineering Conference June 3, 2016Back GGB Bearing Technology will make a presentation based on a technical paper titled “The Evolution of Polymer Bearing Processing for Scroll Compressor Performance and Life Enhancement” at the 2016 Purdue University Compressor Engineering Conference. Scheduled for 9:45 to 11:45 a.m., Tuesday, July 12, the presentation will be made by the paper’s authors, Michael Kim, Benoit Sidot and Derek Marsella. The presentation will highlight GGB’s DU®, DP10, DP31 and DTS10® self-lubricating, metal-polymer plain bearings and their performance advantages in scroll compressor applications. Included will be test data compiled by Daikin Industries, Ltd., a leading manufacturer of air conditioning systems which has been evaluating these products. Metal-polymer bearings with PTFE-based running surfaces, porous bronze interlayers and steel backings have been used to enhance scroll compressor performance since GGB’s DU® bearings were introduced some 30 years ago. With advances in composition and performance, use of this bearing type has become widespread in compressor applications. Today GGB’s lead-free DP10, DP31 and DTS10® bearings are all used by compressor manufacturers for improved performance, service life, machinability and environmental impact. The Compressor Engineering Conference was launched in 1972 by a group of Purdue University professors who saw a need for research on compressors. A conference on refrigeration was added in 1986, and in 2002 research on air conditioning was added to the conference. The venue was further expanded in 2010 with the addition of a conference on high-performance buildings. For more information contact marketing@ggbearings.com.
