Internal Involute Splines
The sides of an external and internal involute spline are equally-spaced grooves and the curve on the tooth flank is involute, as with an involute gear but not as tall. The curves much increase the strength by decreasing stress concentrations. There are many different standards in both imperial and metric also including fillet root side fitting, flat root side fitting and major diameter and side fitting. All are still in use today. A use is to allow one member to slide up and down another member whilst still under driving load. They are also used as a permanent drive when an interference fit is selected. Our capacity includes a vast range of cutters. Please enquire to check our capability.Visit the Hewitt and Topham Ltd website for more information on Internal Involute Splines
