During the construction of the new third lane on the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge in California, the contractor contacted their local authorised Lindapter distributor, Glaser and Associates Inc, for guidance on how to secure multiple digital display boards and traffic signs to the steel beams on the bridge. They quickly received a free connection design from Lindapter’s technical support team which included the recommended Lindapter Girder Clamp solution and detailed drawings of the application. Each connection assembly consisted of four Type AAF clamps by Lindapter and a location plate with slotted holes. The location plate was pre-welded to the steel section of the sign’s support framework to minimise the work on-site.
The pre-assembled solution allowed the contractor to simply hook each sign over a beam, before adjusting into position and tightening with standard hand tools. The Type AAF clamps adjusted to suit the varying flange thicknesses and the slotted holes in the location plates provided further adjustability. This meant that the contractor could standardize and repeat the process along the bridge, despite numerous different sized beams.Visit the Lindapter International website for more information on Girder Clamps were Used on San-Rafael Bridge,USA
