Armoured Covers

Armoured covers have seams that are welded or sewn and cemented, or a combination of both construction methods is used. The covers have hinged stainless steel plates, sometimes called louvers or lamellas, attached to them to stop damage from hot swarf or weld splatter. This construction method is ideal when there is not sufficient clearance to install a steel telescopic cover. This design is used horizontally or vertically, to protect machines with a heavy, sharp or high-temperature swarf load. The covers give excellent open-to-closed ratios and allow for high traversing speeds. They are usually mounted with a steel fixing plate at either end.
