Mayr power transmission has opened a new plant in China
The new construction in Zhangjiagang has been officially inaugurated
Mayr power transmission is expanding and is continuing to develop its capacities in the Middle Kingdom. In May, the leading specialist for torque limiters and safety brakes opened a new plant with a production area of approximately 8000 m2 directly adjacent to the previous subsidiary – in good time for the 10-year anniversary of Mayr China.
Since its foundation ten years ago, Mayr China has developed from a simple representative office into a flourishing company with its own production. With the new construction in Zhangjiagang near Shanghai, directly adjacent to the previous subsidiary, Mayr power transmission is reacting to demand, which has been continuously increasing for years. “The Chinese market, as the most important growth market, plays a significant role for us”, explains CEO Günther Klingler. “With the new plant, we are facing up to the challenge of processing the market locally and offering customer-tailored solutions for China”. For Mayr China, the same quality standards apply as in Germany. The company Quality Management system in Zhangjiagang is certified acc. ISO 9001, as it is in the Headquarters at Mauerstetten. This confirms the quality consciousness of the employees across all levels of the company.
And the demand in China for high-quality, reliable products is enormous, in particular in the field of safety brakes for elevator technology. Chinese elevator manufacturers are currently working hard to improve the standards of safety in their elevator systems. “We have to supply every single brake in the required quality, and guarantee safety without compromises on a permanent basis – everywhere in the world”, emphasises Günther Klingler. “For this, clear processes, comprehensive test possibilities, years of experience and highly-qualified employees are essential prerequisites for success. This costs money, but only in this way can safety be achieved. In future, not the least expensive, but rather the most reliable providers will assert themselves in China”.
The family-run company is expanding
In the presence of numerous guests from the fields of politics and economics, the new Mayr plant was opened in May in Zhangjiagang. The new construction provides space for up to 200 employees in Production and additional workplaces in the office building. At the moment, Mayr China has a staff of approximately 110 employees. “The special feature of our medium-sized family-run company is our company philosophy, which thrives on close collaboration and has highly familial characteristics”, explains Ferdinand Mayr, member of the Management and grandchild of the current company owner, Fritz Mayr sen. “This company philosophy is also lived on-site in Zhangjiagang”.
In addition to the plant in China, Mayr power transmission is also expanding the company complex at the German Headquarters in Mauerstetten. There construction work is currently taking place for the new Communications Centre “mayr.com” and a new Production and Assembly hall.
