Chromate (Cadmium & Zinc) Conversion

After electroplating and heat-treatment if needed, a chromate conversion coating is often applied, which provides the coating with its well known golden appearance. Such a treatment is able to double the corrosion resistance, and a thin conversion coating can also maintain a bright as-plated finish and does not appreciably affect the electrical conductivity of the surface or its solderability.
