It is capable of taking a good polish and is widely used as a plastic mould steel. Forging Heat slowly and uniformly to uniformly to 1050?C. After forging cool slowly. Annealing: Heat uniformly to 630/650?C. Soak well and cool slowly in the furnace. Hardening; Pre heat slowly yo 650/700?C and thoroughly soak. Continue heating to the final hardening temperature of 830/850?C and allow the component to be heated through. Quench in oil or cool in air. Tempering; Heat uniformly and thoroughly at the selected tempering temperatures and hold for one hour per inch of total thickness
