EN36 Steel

UK deliveries. Contact our well informed sales team. EN36 is an alloy case hardening steel. Characteristics of the steel are toughness arising from the use of nickel and a more uniform hardness produced by the use of chromium. It is specifically designed for carburising to give a very hard case with a strong core. Heat Treatment - Carburising Temperature Heat to 890?C/920?C and soak for the necessary time to obtain the desired carburised depth. Single Quench Treatment Heat the carburised EN36 parts to 800/820?C and quench in oil. Double Quench Treatment: Heat the carburised EN36 parts to 850/880?C, cool in oil or air then re heat to 760/780C and quench in oil. Tempering:After hardening temper EN36 at 150?C for 2 hours minimum, and allow to cool in air to give a final surface hardness in the region of Rockwell C60/62.
