X45NiCrMo16
X45NiCrMo16 is a high carbon 4?% nickel air/oil hardening steel. X45NiCrMo16 achieves a good hardness and is suitable for applications demanding extra wear resistance. To forge X45NiCrMo16 firsteat slowly and uniformly to 1050?C. After forging cool slowly. To anneal X45NiCrMo16 heat uniformly to 630/650?C. Soak well and cool slowly in the furnace. Harden the steel by heating the tool slowly to 650/700?C and thoroughly soak. Continue heating to the final hardening temperature of 840/870?C and allow the component to be heated through. Quench in oil or cool in air. To temper the steel heat the tool uniformly and thoroughly at the selected tempering temperatures and hold at heat for one hour per inch of total thickness.Visit the West Yorkshire Steel Co Ltd website for more information on X45NiCrMo16
