A small selection of the bellows assemblies we’re currently manufacturing

21-01-2015

Now that the festive period is all but a distant memory and we’re all back in the swing of things, all the staff at BOSS Bellows would like to wish all our customers a very Happy and Prosperous New Year. While it’s been a busy start to the year we still have significant capacity available across our bellows size range (2”/50mm-120”/3000mm diameter), so if you’re in the market for a bellows expansion joint we’re perfectly placed to help out. Below is just a small selection of the assemblies we’re currently manufacturing: 1000mm/40”NB Double tied lateral bellows Manifold Exhaust bellows manufactured in high alloy materials 200mm/8”NB Single axial bellows 200mm/8”NB Double tied lateral bellows Various single axial flanged bellows with integral reducers 1000mm/40”NB Double tied lateral bellows We’re manufacturing a 1000mm/40”NB double tied lateral bellows that is to be supplied with weld-end pipes at both ends of the joint, prepared suitably for butt-welding into adjacent pipe- work on site. The joint is designed to offer 100mm of lateral movement, is constructed entirely in AISI 304 stainless steel and is supplied complete with internal flow sleeves, 3 No tie bar assemblies, temporary shipping bars and lifting lugs. The item is designed for full vacuum/1.0 Barg service, the membrane longitudinal butt-welds have been subject to 100% X-ray examination and the membrane to pipe end fillet welds 100% DPI (all per EN acceptance criteria). Manifold Exhaust bellows We’re manufacturing a batch of 150mm/6”NB bellows assemblies for an exhaust manifold application. The units are constructed throughout in high alloy materials designed to improve service life given the elevated operating temperature (in excess of 550 Deg C) and what is a particularly corrosive gas fuel. 200mm/8”NB Single axial bellows We’re manufacturing a pair of 200mm/8”NB Single axial flanged bellows expansion joints for steam service at 14 Barg. The units are manufactured with an AISI 321 stainless steel membrane and internal flow sleeve and terminate with fixed carbon steel flanges at each end. The units will be subject to hydraulic pressure test at 21 Barg prior to despatch. 200mm/8”NB Double tied lateral bellows We’re manufacturing a pair of 200mm/8”NB x 600mm long double tied lateral bellows for a condensate system at 1.0 Barg. The units are supplied with AISI 321 stainless steel convoluted membranes with a carbon steel connecting pipe and ‘oval-profiled’ carbon steel flanges drilled to ANSI 150# at each end carrying 2 No tie bar/spherical washer assemblies. The unit has been designed to offer a very small amount of axial movement in combination with a relatively large amount of lateral travel. Various single axial flanged bellows with integral reducers We’re manufacturing a batch of low pressure single axial flanged exhaust bellows to mate up with the adjacent non-standard pipe-work situated at both ends of the installation. The units comprise either a 250mm/10”NB or 200mm/8”NB convoluted membrane with an integral fabricated reducer at both ends coming down to a standard ‘reduced bore’ flange with PN10 drillings. The units are manufactured with AISI 321 stainless steel multiply membranes, internal flow liners and carbon steel fixed flanges at each end. An eye on the future… Here at BOSS Bellows we’re always looking to develop and to make improvements wherever possible. We’ll be able to bring you more details over the coming weeks so look out for updates, but here’s a snippet of what we’re working on at the moment… Form tooling that will enable us to manufacture thicker-wall membranes in a wide range of stainless and high alloy materials in the sizes range 300mm-800mm diameter, specifically for bellows assemblies operating on high pressure applications such as heat exchangers, steam lines and process equipment – estimated completion by the end of January this year. We’re developing additional tooling to support the manufacture of bellows membranes at the smaller end of our size range (50mm/2”-150mm/6”NB). In particular, this will enable us to manufacture relatively small batches of membranes against almost any convolution profile to meet specific customer requirements and on very short lead times – estimated completion March-April of this year. Pressure Equipment Directive (97/23/EC). In conjunction with the notified body Royal & Sun Alliance, we’re moving forward with the implementation of PED accreditation – we expect to have approval in place by April of this year. We’d very much like the opportunity to help with any bellows assembly and expansion joint requirements you may have, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch with our sales office.
