Reducing cost without compromising on quality was the firm requirement when Bilsom Sentry approached Micro Metalsmiths with this breathing apparatus component. In collaboration with Bilsom’s engineers, Micro Metalsmiths redesigned the part which resulted in removing the need for expensive brazing and machining operations. By utilising specialist casting capabilities and employing soluble cores, Micro Metalsmiths were successfully able to manufacture critical internal details. The structural integrity of the re-engineered component was also significantly improved which led to a safer end product. Micro Metalsmiths offered our business a complete solution from tooling, casting, machining, the sourcing of vacuum impregnation and surface plating.
