Refurbishment of old 3, 4 and 5 Axis CNC machines

***Reconditioning CNC machines, from old to new.*** One of the core skills of Service 2000, from their beginnings as special purpose machine tool engineers, is the ability to take an old 3,4 or 5 axis CNC machine that has seen better days and turn it into a machine that is ready to take the strains of today’s production pressures. From our many years experience within the machine tool industry manufacturing new special purpose machines, refurbishment, re-tooling and general machine tool repairs of old machines tools are something that comes naturally and gives us great pleasure when bringing old equipment into the 21st century with a new lease of life. The photos below show a recent project we have completed with an old Stama 3 axis CNC machine that was brought into the UK by our customer from one of the groups sister companies in Europe. The accuracy of the machine was poor, the control technology was weak and the machine in general was in a poor state of health with all ball screws, rails and bearings needing to be replaced. We were tasked with taking the machine back to the bones, re-painting the machine base and all the guards to the customers standard colours and then rebuilding it to today’s standards in control and accuracy. Working together with the customer and Siemens, who were chosen to install the controls, the machine was rebuilt, alignments checked, re-tooled and then passed to over to production. The final result was a new CNC machining centre built exactly to the customers requirements and at a third of the price of a new machine!
