About Us
Talon Engineering started out in a small, shared factory 40 years ago. Today, we’ve become a market leader and thriving success, with our own 35,000sqft state of the art factory and 50 full time staff. This is our story.
Our founder, George was great friends with the Grass Track legend, Lew Coffin and, following a period as his mechanic, George was asked to make hubs for Coffin’s bikes. This is when Talon really took off.
After increasing success manufacturing Grass Track and Speedway hubs, we rapidly expanded our hub production to include the Motocross market.
Beyond hubs and wheels, we’ve become well known in the industry for our wide range of sprockets, each uniquely engineered to suit the bikes and the challenges they face.
Alongside our home produced products, we are also the UK importers of the highly regarded Italian braking systems and Japanese Excel rims. We also distribute RK Chains.
THE START OF A NEW ERA
After nearly 35 years at the helm, George decided to take a back seat in 2006 and handed over the reigns to his son, Rob.
Rob has been with Talon for over 20 years, and has heavily influenced our progression. As a time served engineer himself, he brings with him a wealth of experience. What’s more, he’s enjoyed a highly successful riding career, competing at World Championship level in both Trials and Enduro, winning two British Junior Trials crowns and a multitude of British Enduro titles – the second of which he won a year after breaking his neck.
Today, we export to 35 countries, with distributors in Europe, the United States, Japan and Australia. In fact, more than 70% of our business lies in the export market.
