Remote Field Electromagnetic Testing Remote field Electromagnetic Technique (RFET) is an eddy current based technique that can be used on ferrous tube materials. This is an alternative to IRIS inspection. Remote field is quicker and requires less cleaning that IRIS, which makes it ideal where cleanliness makes IRIS infeasible. However, the drawback is in resolution and accuracy. IRIS would usually be recommended for ferrous tubing over RFET if possible.
