NODE AUDIO - STANDING OUT FROM THE CROWD

Node Audio know how to stand out from the crowd when it comes to the sound quality courtesy of their Hylixa signature audio speaker and the design is equally distinctive. When Node decided to take their speakers to the UK Audio Show in October they knew they needed a stunning finish to complete their show stopping product. The Hylixa’s complex geometry is only possible by harnessing a technique called ‘Selective Laser Sintering’ (SLS). Each cabinet is ‘grown’ in Node’s laboratory from glass nylon fused in 0.2mm layers using a laser, resulting in the entire cabinet geometry, baffle and crossover being a single unified part. The Complete Fabrication team have always been synonymous with high end finishing for multiple clients across many industries and had already honed the Hylixa cabinets for Node through a range of prototypes as part of the product development process. This made it a natural progression that, as with all Node cabinets to date, the final high quality paint finish would be completed by Complete Fabrication too. A face-to-face meeting was set up with David and Ashley, the design team from Node, to work through some colour options. Our team prepared and presented a myriad of paint swatches to our clients in order to choose the perfect colour for the main body of the cabinet. Once the Node team have machined and prepped the parts, they are handed over to Complete Fabrication so they can work their magic. The paint finish and depth of shine comes from a coat of colour followed by multiple coats of lacquer and finished with a final polish. To complete the high end finish, the baffle and stand that complete the product also came to Complete Fabrication for chrome plating. In this case the client didn’t have a very specific idea about the colour that they wanted, but some clients have a very definite idea or need to match another product, our technicians are able to colour match or create custom colours to suit any taste.
