Flintec Implements Rooftop Solar System
Flintec is delighted to announce the successful installation of a state-of-the-art rooftop solar system at our manufacturing facilities in Sri Lanka, covering an area of 12,150 square metres (approximately 140,000 square feet).
The installation spans three of our manufacturing buildings and comprises an impressive array of 4,110 solar panels. This system has a capacity of up to 2.4 megawatts and is expected to offset around 40% of our annual energy consumption. We project this will reduce our CO₂ emissions by 2.25 metric tonnes each year, equivalent to planting over 100,000 trees annually.
To maximise efficiency and environmental impact, Flintec has partnered with the local electricity board, enabling us to export any surplus electricity back to the national grid. This strategic collaboration not only lessens our reliance on domestic energy sources but also contributes clean, renewable energy to local production.
Our UK facility will also benefit from a similar solar installation, set to be operational by summer 2023.
This shift to solar power marks a significant step in Flintec’s commitment to a cleaner, more sustainable future.
