Resolven Engineers Focus On Design Driven Future

With two companies – both with over 50 years expertise and enviable reputations – the Directors of Resolven based companies Nidum Precision Tooling and Magor Designs have recently resolved the right strategy to drive the businesses forward. Ewan McConnell, Managing Director comments “ We have just completed an analysis of recent trading, the results of which suggest two very clear trends : The average size and complexity of tooling that we work on has increased significantly AND an increasing number of jobs combine design and manufacture. Further, in discussion with our customers, another trend is clear – that our customers are increasingly seeking a “One Stop” solution, combining design and manufacture”. Mark Davies, Sales Director adds; “. It’s a competitive market so, we need to take every opportunity we can to differentiate ourselves from our competitors and we know that our skills and experience in design represents our biggest single differentiator". "In order to react to these trends and take advantage of the chance to differentiate, we have decided that greater emphasis should be given, in our marketing and commercial activities, to our ability to offer a design and manufacture service”. States Design Director, Steve Griffiths Ewan McConnell continues; “The practical application of this decision is that, in future, our primary customer and supplier relationships will be between Magor Designs and the customer or supplier. We have already agreed with Tenneco, our biggest customer, that they will contract from now on with Magor Designs and, as many of you know, our contracts with Jaguar Land Rover and others are already with Magor. The process of change over to Magor will take place, where appropriate, over the next few months. This change will also facilitate another of our short term objectives that of reducing administration costs by seeking to trade, where possible, through one business entity”. Mark Davies re-enforces: “Nidum will continue to offer its full range of established manufacturing capabilities and will be the supplier of first call for the majority of manufacturing requirements of our customers – as now – but served Via Magor”. “ The combined skills of Nidum and Magor bring a very compelling offering to our current and prospective customers – promoting under the Magor brand is an exciting new chapter in our long history” concludes Steve Griffiths.
