Optical Sensitivity Performance Breakthrough for the Lab

08-12-2014

The Polytec non-contact vibration sensor featuring the highest optical sensitivity is the RSV-150 Remote Sensing Vibrometer. Although it was initially designed and tuned for long range condition monitoring on civil structures, the best possible signal-to-noise ratio can now be experienced at shorter distances in the laboratory, for example during non-destructive evaluation studies in the MHz range or high velocity drop tests, with the availability of new aspheric close-up lenses. Close-up lenses, added individually or in sets of two, enable the RSV-150 to be operated at distances less than 5 m. Two lenses can be combined to realize different variable working distances, allowing the high optical sensitivity to be experienced for a range of in-lab applications including biological and other optically uncooperative surfaces. RSV-150 becomes the vibration sensor workhorse for the scientist.
