Glass Handling with a Difference

28-08-2013

Alwayse ball units and float-on castors are often used for handling sheets of glass. Although in this instance, the ball units are being used in order to steady the blowing iron during the glass blowing process in order to manufacture glass ornaments. The ball units are from the Alwayse 'bolt fixing' range and are referenced 100315. Manufactured from 100% stainless steel in order to withstand the elevated temperatures and an M8 stud welded to the base in order to allow simple fitting. The units are fitted into a 'V' formation in order to enable the blowing iron to be rested between the two units. The iron can simply be moved closer or further away from the operator due to the fact that the ball bearings rotate in all directions with very little friction resistance, but also greater angles can be achieved and the blowing iron can be rotated through 360 degrees in order to produce some fine artistic shapes.
